Fair deal earns Telstra praise.

May 19, 2004 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX)

Consumer groups say Telstra's approach to the issue of unfair contracts is exemplary. Telstra has vowed to either reimburse customers or make it easier for them to exit contracts when the conditions on its mobile telephone, Internet and pay TV services change. It has taken action in response to strict new consumer protection laws introduced in Victoria in 2003. However, consumer groups have criticised the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) for not yet responding to a paper by consumer protection agencies on uniform unfair contract laws across Australia.
