MEXICO CITY, Apr 22, 2005 (Reforma - Negocios/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Mexican steel production went down 2.5% during the first quarter of the year, adding 3.92 million tons.This is the largest decrease registered in all Latin American countries, said the inform of the International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI).World production added 267 million tons, which represents an increment of 6.5% compared to last year. In the United States it reached 24 million tons and raised 1.1%, whereas the European Union produced 41.9 million tons, with an increment of 0.2% annual.
