Qld: Anti social orders will stop child prostitution, opposition

Queensland's opposition says child prostitution could be stamped out in Queensland
if magistrates are given the power to force young drug addicts into rehabilitation.

The coalition's statement is part of its anti-drugs election policy.

The policy also includes provision for parents to apply to magistrate courts for anti-social
orders for children addicted to drugs and glue and petrol sniffing.

Opposition families spokesman DENVER BEANLAND says the coalition's four-year $210 million
plan holds the key to ending child prostitution.

He says the orders, plus extra rehabilitation beds and halfway house beds, could break
the drug habits of child addicts so they would no longer turn to prostitution.
